I was hired to create a landing page and a simplified way of storing application's information, and receiving payments on their website.
The idea of this website or landing page, was to ensure the user did everything with ease. And most importantly, that everything took place within the website.
Their team also had important needs like being able to store, sort and export the data from the applications whenever they needed to.
The Supernova Grant is a non-profit startup that aims at helping women of color ease their way into a successful business.
Both of the founders have experienced what it is like to get loans, grants and other needed resources to be able operate their businesses, and now they want to provide a solution that will simplify it all for a #Novawoman.
Here are some of the steps I took to provide all the deliverables and create an ROI of 100% within days of the landing page launch.
I wanted to get a clear picture of the problem they really wanted to solve, and who their customers were. This way, I was able to concentrate on the main issue at hand, while keeping the experience of the form + website something that was easy to navigate and also connects with their audience. I did this with a 45 mins session, where their founders and head of marketing, joined me for a strategic call. In this call we discussed goals, steps, customers, and user flows.
The biggest challenge with this sort of startups is that they need to be able to create a trust-worthy relationship from the start. The userflow, showed the user paying after the application was completed. So, I went on to research what other organizations have created, specially those that have been doing this for a long time.
Once I had done my research, I went on to create the wireframes of the experience I was about to design. I looked at creating a home page using the Storybrand methodology as this will allow me to connect the client with their customers in a clear way, while building the story which allowed to move the user towards filling in the application form. These wireframes and maps, were presented to the client, where we further discussed and enhanced the story.
Once the wireframes were done, I moved on to creating the design directions for this web experience. For this part, I created 3 directions based on our strategy call, the words they chose to describe their brands, their goals and their target audience. I also took parts of their story and the name 'Supernova' to come up with these stylescapes. Once this presentation was completed, they chose one and I used that style direction to design the website.
They needed to achieve certain features with this website, and keep everything in one straight forward dashboard. So I chose to develop the designs I've created using WordPress. Within WordPress, I was able to integrate Gravity form with their chosen payment get way system, allowing me to keep the entire process on their domain name. During my research, I found that 76.3% of e-commerce transactions fail because the users are taking outside of the domain name. And using Gravity form conditional logic, I was able to create conditions that only allowed the applications to be submitted once a payment has been received. To enhance this even further, I used different types of notifications to alert the user that their form has been submitted, and what to expect next.
Once I was finished with the web development and delivered it to the client, I hosted a session with the founders to ensure they knew how to use their website and get access to all the applications and payments. I also customized the WordPress dashboard, so they can get access to video tutorials that were created by me for them, in case they ever needed to troubleshoot anything that I created.
