Intro to Divi Website Builder
I have been building websites with WordPress for about 7 years now, and as a designer, I have been limited to what I was able to do, unless I picked up some coding courses. But that was until Divi by Elegant Themes was released a few years ago.
Since then, I have built every website that I have created on WordPress using Divi. And if you are wondering what sort of websites you can use it for, just know that I have built gamification based websites, hotels and resorts, startups, consultants, and even our very own digital store for L & S Company Group Inc.
If you are not into reading that is fine, I have summarized it all in the video above. I am going to be creating new tutorials on my Youtube Channel, so I invite you to head over there and click subscribe so you can get the videos right away.
Before I dive into what I love about Divi, I want to give you a heads up about their Elegant theme Black-Friday Sale. I purchased the license we currently have during one of these sales a few years ago, and since then we have used it for so many projects. It was definitely worth the investment.
So let’s get into it, shall we?
What is Divi and how is it different?
Divi is a visual builder for WordPress, but unlike the other visual / drag and drop builders, you actually get to be in full control of how your website will look.
Their framework allows you to customize every element of your website, from the navigation all the way to the footer of your page, and templates for different pages, so you don’t have to repeat the work you do on all the pages that might have a similar look.
What I love the most about Divi, is that to me, it is sort of like a blank canvas for me to develop my designs. And with their latest, theme builder update, I can really develop a website that looks and feels just like my designs.
They have also put the extra work to make sure you can integrate it with many plugins and third-party tools that you might use to develop your websites. As of today, there are almost no limitations on what you can develop when it comes to using Divi.
Divi benefits for designers
So, WordPress is powering over 455 million websites as of 2020!
That is an insane number, but many people moved away for it because they needed full-stack developers to help them create stunning websites. And if you are a designer, there is no need for you to know how to code 100% or know different coding languages.
This is where Divi entered the game and created an amazing product for us designers. I can see how this framework has given designers like ourselves, the confidence of going into web development, by allowing us to transform our designs into live websites.
And knowing that they are always improving our experience and the tools we will need, is definitely a plus.
Since they opened up their Marketplace, it even opened up more opportunities for us designers. Actually, by using Divi Ghoster, no one will ever be able to tell you even used WordPress to build your website. Isn’t that amazing?
Divi benefits for clients
There is no better feeling than handing over a website to a client, and seeing them use it in just a few minutes.
I have seen clients who have never used WordPress, get to editing and changing content for example, in just a few seconds. I guess Divi, is the real WordPress version of What You See Is What You Get. Those who used Dreamweaver will understand what I mean.
With their latest updates, you are able to fully customize your customer’s experience when it comes to editing their website. You can give different roles, different tasks, and disable those tasks that can cause the website’s code to go side-ways.
And since they can edit their websites directly in the front-end, there is no need to explain all these weird fill in forms that are required in other WordPress framework.
As I mentioned before, they will also be able to integrate different apps and tools with their websites. Whether it is marketing, sales, tracking, or gamify their website. It is all possible with Divi.
What is next for our Divi’s series
We are going to start recording Divi based videos to show you everything from getting set up the right way, to handing over your website to a client. And will even do some advanced Divi stuff so you can be confident in building your next website.
I will recommend to purchase the lifetime access to their framework. But wait until their Black Friday sale so you can get up to a 50% discount!
Let me know if you have any questions about Divi and building your designs on it. And if there are any specific tutorials you’d like to see on our Divi Tutorials that are coming up, let me know! I’d love to include them in our calendar for the videos we will be creating!
